After a day spent at the Genoa Aquarium, or a day’s walk all over the largest historical centre in Europe, discovering museums, historical palaces, churches with a wealth of frescoes and monuments, what better way is there than sitting in a restaurant to enjoy the local specialities? Now allow us to suggest some restaurants and pizzerias to you; these are located in different areas of the centre and of the Genoa historical centre.
These places have been chosen both from our direct experience and after being recommended to us by former guests of our hotel.
We are pleased to offer this extra service to you. Our gastronomic itinerary starts from Vico delle Monachette, which is 50 metres from the Hotel, where you find the "Antica Trattoria del Lupo" ( 010-267036 ), where our gusts, who take advantage of our special offers, will have their dinners. The restaurant offers a varied range of local dishes, including fish dishes.
The second stop is "Prie de Mà " restaurant, just in front of the Hotel; the restaurant offers genuine home cooking, including some dishes of the local tradition. Tel. 010-2530009.
Proceeding towards the centre, past Piazza Nunziata, after 100 metres, turn right into Via Cairoli; at the end of this street, go to N° 40 R Via ai 4 Canti di San Francesco and you will find Garibaldi Café (tel. 010-2470847) in the premises that used to be the access to the historical mansion called Brignole-Durazzo; this refined Café offers an à la carte service with dishes that are part of the traditional Liguria region cuisine. You will also find an excellent wine list that includes the best Italian wines.
Now let us proceed to the last stop of our itinerary: after leaving Piazza De Ferrari, go down Via San Lorenzo leaving the Ducal palace and the majestic San Lorenzo Cathedral on the right, before getting to the end of this street, turn left into Via Canneto il Curto and get to n° 2 Piazza dei Giustiniani and you are at the famous Bistrot il Sorpasso (tel. 010-2472666), that inspired the namesake film by Dino Risi; this small un-expensive restaurant offers genuine Ligurian dishes.
Talking about restaurants, I can’t help mentioning Frank Sinatra’s favourite one, the fabulous Ristorante Zeffirino at 20 Via XX Setttembre
(tel. 010-591990); this prestigious restaurant prepares very accurate Ligurian dishes along with the usual fish and sea food dishes; there is also a wide wine choice and the price is up to the offer.
As to pizzerias, the number is too large to mention them all here, but ask the Reception and you will be given all the information you need. |

Area of the Porto Antico ( 500 metres away ), the town centre, that is, the alleys stretching from Piazza De Ferrari ( 20 minutes’s walk away ) to Piazza San Matteo and Via Chiossone, and, finally, Piazza delle Erbe, the favourite one for young people as well as for Italian and foreign college students.
